In 2013 Cēsu alus attained great results in the sustainability evaluation of Latvian companies, retaining the gold level assessment. The company results have received an especially high evaluation in the categories of work environment development and investment in the local community.

This year within the Sustainability Index special attention was devoted to equal opportunities for women and men in companies, as being good management elements; therefore the Society Integration Foundation awarded the nominations “Most Successful Woman – Company Director – 2013” and “Company with the Best Focus on Gender Equality – 2013”

Chairperson of the Saeima Solvita Āboltiņa presented the award in the nomination “Most Successful Woman – Company Director – 2013” to JSC “Cēsu alus” Chairman of the Board Eva Sietiņsone-Zatlere.

According to the Society Integration Foundation, Eva Sietiņsone-Zatlere is one of five female directors, who are managing companies that showed great results in the Sustainability Index this year. A specially formed evaluation commission, which included experts of gender equality, representatives of employers and corporate responsibility experts decided to grant this award to the director of a private company. JSC “Cēsu alus” has been taking part in the Sustainability Index for five years already and during these years under the management of Eva Sietiņsone- Zatlere the company has always improved its results, showing especially good results precisely in the criteria of work environment and the local community.

Director of the Society Integration Foundation Aija Bauere: “Studies at the EU level prove that the more equal the representation of genders in the adoption of highest and medium level decisions, the better the company’s organisational and financial results.”

The Sustainability Index is a strategic management tool that helps Latvian companies to diagnose the sustainability of their businesses and the level of corporate responsibility. It also gives objective criteria to society, and governmental and non-governmental organisations in order to praise and support companies that help to strengthen the Latvian economy in the long term.

The gold level group is entered by companies that demonstrate openness and transparency in all the most important sustainability aspects while communicating publicly. They aim at expanding and adjusting their risk management processes by incorporating the most essential corporate responsibility aspects. The corporate responsibility strategy of these companies comprises clear and measurable aims.
