After a lengthy and diligent certification process, Cēsu alus brewery has received the Environmental Management System certificate in accordance with the international ISO 14001: 2015 standard. It confirms that the company has worked efficiently to develop, maintain and continuously improve the environmental management system, and also in general confirms the responsible attitude of the company towards environmental issues.
Eva Sietiņsone, Chairman of the board, Cēsu alus: “Environmental issues are on the agenda of every company that strives to be sustainable and socially responsible. Cēsu alus has highlighted caring for environment and natural resources as one of the priorities in the field of social responsibility, with the aim of gradually reducing the impact of its activities on the environment by planning and using resources with care and prudence. Our environmental strategy is based not only on strict compliance with the law, but also on the implementation of our own initiatives and continuous improvement. One of the environmental goals of this year was to get the Environmental Management System certificate, and we successfully achieved that”.
Environmental Management System certificate ISO 14001 will compliment the Energy Management System certificate ISO 50001 that the company has already received, which in turn confirms that the company has an approved energy management policy and defined goals and processes that are necessary to implement this policy, incl. plans and activities to reduce energy consumption. Taking care of the efficient use of natural resources, electricity consumption in 2017 has decreased by 9.6%, heat energy – by 11.2% and water by 15.9% compared to 2016.
